Catch up...

So, it has been a week since I last checked in but we have been busy...kinda?!?
Last week was a yucky week...weather and all! It got called again and I was busy preparing for a bachelorette party I helped host on Saturday. On Wednesday, we both took Chi Chi to the ophthalmologist. Yep, they really have eye doctors for dogs and cats. Basically, the doc had to scrap :( Cha Chi's eye so that it will heal correctly. Little guy is still hurting but we are hopeful!
Friday, our friend Bucky was in town for business and we went to dinner at Houston's (one of my fav chain restaurants). I had my favorite, crab cakes and RB had a fish covered in a lemon butter crab sauce...his was the best! We also discovered a new wine we like (Mom & Dad...) Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio. YUM! After dinner we went to a sports bar by our place called Fankie's to watch some of the basketball games. We headed home early b/c I had a ton to do on Saturday to prep for the party.
Saturday, Bucky came over and the guys watched basketball all day. They both were a huge help in helping me set up for the party that was going to be held in our buildings club house. some of the other bridesmaid showed up early to picth in and we had the party catered so that made things a breeze.
The bride-to-be is one of my best friends from high school. It was fun to see all the girls from back then. We first ate dinner here, had some wine and opened gifts. We rented a party bus for the night and went to a handful of bars: Fearing's Rattlesnake Bar, The Quarter Bar, Plush (for dancing) and ended the night at Dragonfly. Here are some pictures from the night:
Sunday, cleaned up and relaxed.
NOW, THIS WEEK...
Tomorrow night Brooke and I are headed to...drum roll please...
Yes, we are going to the Britney Spears concert and are so excited! We are going to a friends who lives right next door to where the concert will be. We will sit on her patio and drink some wine and watch everyone go in. It is going to be one long night and I plan to take a ton of pictures! Will update soon!!!!

Weekend Recap
Friday, we watched the game....SFA lost but it was neat to see them on TV and have the announcer talk about SFA and Nacogdoches! That night we had a date night and went to a restaurant RB had been wanting to try, Cuba Libre. It was aw-ight ;) The fish was good and the mojitos were tasty too but not so sure we will be running back anytime soon.
Saturday, we woke up full of energy and took Cha Chi on a nice long walk. We walked down to the Starbucks and around the neighborhood. Cha Chi was so tired he just passed out when we got back. RB still had a bunch of energy and missed working in the yard when we owned the house so he called our friends Alex and Morgan and asked if he could come over and help Alex. We spent the morning over there. I got to play with our Goddaughter and Morgan and I went to a couple garage sales.
We stopped for a hamburger at the one and only Keller's. It is so fun to park there and people watch and of course the burgers can not be beat!
That night we had four different things going on but had to pick just one so we choose to go to a friend's house for a crawfish broil. Everyone there went to SFA so it was fun to watch the Texas basketball game there but then just to catch up with everyone. We also played Flip Cup and I must brag that I did awesome! It was a blast and I may have to introduce it at the next family get together! RB was our referee and was too darn funny. For those who do not know what Flip Cup is...
The people in the video (FYI...don't know any of these people just found video on youtube) had way to much beer in their cups and yes, Mom, we drank responsibly and RB did not play since he was the DD.
We left that party and went and meet some of my H.S. friends at a pub for a going away party. Didn't last long there b/c it was super crowded and we were ready to go home. We were craving tacos so we went to Fuel City. When ever any of the family comes to visit this is one of the places we will take ya. Here is a (cheesy) video but you have to see it...
Sunday, we got up a little late (for us) and I had to get ready for a bridal shower that I had to attend. I am a bridesmaid in the wedding and it is in less then a month in Mexico! This weekend I will be hosting a lingerie shower here at our place...more to come on that later!
After the shower I came home and RB and I decided to go out and enjoy the amazing weather. We got on the trolly that runs in front of our place and took it up to West Village. I know I am playing a lot of cheesy videos but didn't take many pictures this weekend so...here ya go again
We will be making the trolly ride to all the Uptown (which is where we live) restaurants and bars a every weekend tradition. Here in Dallas, brunch and patios are a HUGE deal. We decided we need to see what all the fuss was about and let me tell you...we are hooked. We first started at Manny's Uptown and enjoyed the signature margarita and split a large botana platter on their patio. Both were really good and we will be back there often. Then we walked to Mi Cocina and got a great table on their patio and had a margarita and beer and just enjoyed watching the LARGE crowd enjoying all the patios around West Village. It was so much fun!!!
Well, kids, that was one long weekend and this week we have a lot to do. I will update when I can!
Mom & Dad, even though we had a fun weekend here we are sad we didn't get to spend the weekend with y'all in SA like we used too! Glad, y'all two wild kids had a blast ;)

AXE 'EM JACKS
RB and I loved SFA and had some other family members who are SFA alum (Cris and Daniel). All of our college friends are pumped and ready to watch the game tomorrow at 11 am when we play Syracuse.
The neat thing, in my opinion, is our President is really into college basketball. He has been talking about how he picked teams for his brackets...no he probably did not pick No. 14 SFA but he still read our name and other wise would have never known who we are.
Hey, I know it is a stretch but we are really excited and are proud of the Lumberjacks!!!

3/18/09
St. Patty's Day
Cris was a little nervous to go out on our balcony (to high up for her) but eased into and we sat out there and watched traffic. Of course we could not let her leave without taking a picture for the blog!

Wowzers...it has been too long!
So lets start from the most recent and go back (will make it easier to remember since it has been so long)
Week of March 9-14
This past weekend RB and I went to our fist St. Patrick's Day Parade on lower Greenville. It was a full day of fun. Literally, we started with mimosas and cocktails at nine AM! Then from there we walked to lower Greenville and reunited with a lot of SFA alum and saw some friends from high school too! Here are a few pics:
It was one of the longest days and I think it aged us. That was our first and possibly our last...
During that week we got to take a cooking class. Here at our building we have a social director who sets up different events for all the residents. We take full advantage of them b/c they introduce us to great restaurants and we meet the other residents. We went to Kenichi and had two chefs teach us how to prepare a bunch of Japanese food and even some sushi. It was a neat experience and they gave us the recipes. Maybe one day we will be brave enough to try them on our own!
Week of March 2-8
During this week we had another event through our building at Capital Grille at the Crescent. It was a neat chance to meet other residents from our sister property and getting to try all the complimentary food and wine. All very good but the best part was RB got to meet Pop...as in Coach Pop of the San Antonio Spurs. I turned around and saw him standing at the bar with a very large body guard. I told RB and within seconds my not-so-shy-hubby was at the bar talking to Coach Pop. I thought it was just going to be a quick hello but Coach Pop and RB had a full on conversation and when RB was going to walk away Pop stopped him and wanted to know where he was going and continued in a conversation. Very cool! we would have taken a picture but this bar was not the place to do that and it might have been awkward!
That weekend we joined Richard and Julie at Richard's families amazing ranch. It was a great treat for both of us. I went to high school with both of them and RB and Richard hit it off instantly after they meet each other...they both LOVE hunting and have a lot in common. We had a fantastic time touring the ranch and eating and drinking with them. RB got a chance to go hunting (for hogs) Here are some pictures from the perfect weekend:
This week we went to ANOTHER Eric Hutchinson concert at the House of Blues. He opened for a fun band called G Love and the Special Sauce. It was a great concert and b/c we live in our building we were offered a free membership to the Foundation Room (VIP area at HOB). It was a great concert and (Mom) click on his name to hear some of his music. I won't bore y'all with more pictures from the concert.
That weekend we went to dinner with RB's coworker and her boyfriend at Truluck's, which was not all that yummy. We meet up with our friends Bucky (Clint) and his girlfriend and Fatty (Bradly) and his fiance. We went to the bar at ZaZa that Friday night. Then on Saturday we went to dinner with them at Javier's, which was a tasty mexican steakhouse! We are headed to Vegas in June for Fatty's wedding at the Bellagio!
Now the weeks before that get blurry...March 16-22
I know that this was worst week ever for us. I am sure most all of y'all have heard so I do want to bring it all back up but Cha Chi ran away from the ranch. YES, WE FOUND HIM! Really that is all that matters but it was the most emotional weekend and thank all of our family for worrying about Cha Chi and us. Long story short...Cha Chi ran a mile away and a nice neighbor (whom we call the Dr.) found him and took him in for the night. That night was the hardest night b/c we were not sure of his safety. Non-the-less he was fine... a little sore and tired but back to being spoiled in Dallas.
Now, in between all that...
RB has done some traveling for work and I have stayed here and felt super safe in our building. I have joined friends for lunch and dinner while he has been gone and kept myself busy. We have three weddings coming up, showers and the job searching has begun for me. So, there is a lot to write about so stay tuned!

All Apologies...
a)Valentine's Weekend
b)RB's surprise Valentines gift
c)Cha Chi went to his first "Yappy Hour"
I promise to get back after this weekend. We are headed to the ranch so RB can help his Dad and I get to go hang out at Grandma and Grandpa's! I am so excited, since we have moved further away I cherish the time we get when we get to back.
Have a great weekend!
Oh, and we have gone "public". You don't have to sign in anymore to see the blog. Makes it easier on everyone. If by chance you have stumbled upon this blog and have no clue who AB and RB are...welcome. This blog was meant for family but please enjoy!

Nuestra Casa es Su Casa
FINALLY, here are some pictures of our living and dining area...
Well, there you have it. We will complete the rest of the tour later ;)
The Light Show
2/9/09
Great weekend.
Friday, we stayed in and relaxed. That morning I meet a close friend, Carley, for coffee in Austin. I wish we lived in the same city but we talk all the time and it feels like we do. Then we stopped at the Gap Outlet and I got some steals on lounging clothes!
Saturday, we woke up and ran some little errands. We came home and I tried a new dessert recipe, mini cheesecakes. I forgot to take a picture but they turned out pretty darn good.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 dozen vanilla wafers
- 2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
PREPARATION:
Heat oven to 325°.Line muffin tin with foil liners. Place a vanilla wafer in each liner. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, vanilla, and sugar; beat until well blended. Beat in eggs until blended. Pour cream cheese mixture over wafers, filling each liner about 3/4-full. Bake for 25 minutes.
Top with preserves, fresh sliced fruit, pie filling, sugared pecans, toasted coconut, or shaved chocolate.
I ended up topping them with mini chocolate chips. I also made another batch and mixed the mini chocolate chips in with the blended cream cheese and those were my favorite. They were very easy and quick. (Tasted better the next morning after the chilled in fridge over night)
Well, I made this yummy dessert to take over to our friends house that night. Richard and Julie invited us over for drinks and to grill some venison. I graduated high school with both of them and RB and Richard love to talk about hunting. It was the perfect night.
Sunday, we woke up with a tiny hangover but quickly got over it. We met up with Alex, Morgan and little Mallorie. We went to the Farmers Market to have breakfast then we walked around and picked up a ton of fresh veggies and fruits. We came back to our place and Morgan and I made some fresh salsa with all our goodies. The guys played with the Wii and Morgan I took Mallorie and Cha Chi on a nice walk.
It really was a relaxing weekend with friends...something we had looked forward to when we knew we were moving here to Dallas.

Hutcheads!
"Hutcheads" are what big fans of Eric Hutchinson are called. I think we qualify now. He is really really good and I promise you will hear about him soon he is starting to get noticed and played more on the radio.
He is so nice and fun! The second picture was actually RB's cute idea... By the way, he totally remembered us too. We told him we will see him again when he comes back to Dallas.
Guess what...we are going to see Eric Hutchinson AGAIN later this month. Yep, that's right, three times in one month. Crazy, huh?!
2/4/09
If You Wanna Rock You Rock...
That is part of a song that we saw last night at an awesome concert. We went to House Of Blues to see two of our favorite artist; Eric Hutchinson and O.A.R. They were so darn good and the House of Blues is an amazing concert hall...very small! We are huge fans of both...such big fans that we came home and bought tickets for the show in Austin on Thursday. We are going to take Samantha to concert too. It is going to be so fun. We were already having to go b/c of RBs work so it is perfect!
The neat thing about the concert was we got to meet Eric Hutchinson and he signed a shirt for me!!

Super Weekend
(get ready this is gonna be a long one!)
Friday, I went to happy hour with Brooke and her fun mama, Patty. We went to Taverena for a couple glasses of wine. I had a bite of their crab/shrimp cake...yum, I want to go back with RB to eat some more. I had a real good time with these two (I always do) and can't wait to do it again and again!
I didn't eat with them b/c I had to come home for a special date with RB. We went to Sangria to celebrate Brendita's birthday! We shared a bunch of different tapas. It was a crowded restaurant and we were excited for our first dinner out and who we were celebrating.
Saturday, we woke up early (6:00am) to pick the house up. Then we meet one of RB's favorite coworkers, Chris and his fun partner, David, for breakfast. We walked to breakfast at The Dream Cafe. It was neat to take the short walk and see all the other neat restaurants along the way. Breakfast was super delicious especially the strawberry butter! The cafe has a large patio and a lot of people brought their dogs. The best part of breakfast was Chris and David. We always have a blast with them and our checks hurt from laughing so much. After breakfast they drove us around the gayborhood. SO MUCH FUN and they bought us an amazing scented candle as a housewarming gift. Then they came up to see our new place and give some decorating advice!
After they left, RB went to go play frisbee golf with friends from high school. I went to Alex & Mrogan's to play with our beautiful Goddaughter, Mallory. I also took Cha Chi over there to play in their big yard with Paul & Erin's two dogs. He had a blast!
We came back home and had our minds set that we were going to go eat hamburgers at a restaurant Chris & David recommended in the gayborood. Plans changed and we meet up with Aunt Cris & Uncle Don and Aunt Mattie and Uncle Ivan (they were in from Houston) for a margarita at El Fenix. Then we went to Cris & Don's for some wine and a dessert Natalie had brought over.
Sunday, we woke up early and headed out to Frisco. We went to our favorite go-to-store, IKEA. We were there when doors opened and it still was crowded! We had received a coupon in the mail for $25 off a certain amount. We got RB a (much needed) office chair and two chairs for our balcony. The balcony chairs were a steal at only $25 each. There were only four left and we snatched two of them at the sale price. We also got some other odds and ends. RB loves riding the carts in IKEA (I snuck a picture when he wasn't looking)...he is just a big kid!
After Ikea we decided to try the restaurant the guys recommended, Hunky's...cute name for a restaurant in the gayborhood, huh?!? Oh my goodness...these were the best burgers ever. We sat on the patio and loved the crowd and of course the burger. I had a cheeseburger and RB had the buffalo burger. We can not wait to take Mom & Dad here. It beats Keller's burgers, Dad!
We were stuffed silly and came back to the house and unloaded our goods from IKEA. It was an amazing day outside so we decided to go to the pool. It is a heated pool so RB went for a swim and we just lied there with a cold drink and some magazines. Got to love Texas's crazy weather.
I included some pictures of the pool. It is located on the 6th floor of our building. In the first picture, you can see a few of the buildings behind us (those are the museums in the art district) and there are some "beds" in the left corner that we lied on. The second picture shows the outdoor fire place and two grills we can use! Who is ready to come over to bbq?!
Welllllllll that's all folks!
